MEASUREMENT GUIDE
Custom Sizing
Made Easy
Most of our gowns can be made using your own measurements at no extra cost.
Whether you're between sizes, petite, tall or have different bust, waist and hip measurements, custom sizing helps us create the best possible starting fit before your dress is made.

Measurements We Require
Please provide all measurement in centimetres

1. BUST
Measure around the fullest part of your bust, keeping the measuring tape level across your back. Wear the bra or shapewear you plan to wear with your gown, if applicable.
2. UNDERBUST
Measure directly underneath your bust where the band of a bra would naturally sit. Keep the tape firm but not too tight.
3. WAIST
Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist. Stand relaxed and avoid pulling your stomach in.
4. HIP
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and bottom, ensuring the tape remains level all the way around.
5. SHOULDER WIDTH
Measure straight across your back from the outer edge of one shoulder bone to the other.
6. HOLLOW TO WAIST
Measure from the hollow at the base of your neck (between your collarbones) straight down to your natural waist.
7. HOLLOW TO HEM
Measure from the hollow at the base of your neck to your desired finished hem length while standing upright. Wear the shoes you intend to wear with your gown.
8. OVERALL HEIGHT
Stand barefoot against a wall and measure from the top of your head to the floor. Wear the shoes you intend to wear with your gown.

Important things to note
-
Alterations
Custom sizing does not mean your dress will arrive needing no alterations.
Every bridal gown is individually made, however we recommend allowing room in your budget for adjustments such as hems, strap length, bust fit or bustle additions.
-
Sizing Tolerance
As each dress is individually handcrafted, please allow a small tolerance of a few cms in the finished garment. Minor variations can occur depending on the fabric, structure, embellishments, and construction of the design.
-
Weight Changes
Our gowns are made to the size supplied when you order. Desert Moon Bridal cannot accept responsibility for body changes between ordering and delivery.
-
Production Timeframes
While we always do our best to complete every gown within our standard 8–12 week production timeframe, custom-sized gowns may occasionally require additional production time due to the extra pattern work and quality checks involved.
If you have a wedding or event date approaching, please let us know before ordering so we can advise whether your gown can be completed within your required timeframe.
-
Measuring Tips
Have someone else measure you while standing naturally. Take a firm bust and waist if ordering a corset back dress to allow for cinching.
If you are doing full custom sizing then we highly recommend getting professional measurements
Arm Measurements

For gowns with fitted sleeves, we require additional arm measurements to ensure your sleeves are comfortable and allow for ease of movement.
These measurements help us achieve the best possible fit and reduce the need for alterations.
Please provide the following measurements for all fitted sleeve styles:
-
Upper Arm Circumference
Measure around the fullest part of your upper arm (bicep)
-
Arm Length
Measure from the shoulder point
(where your shoulder meets your arm) down to your wrist bone
-
Armhole
Measure around the armhole, where your arm meets your shoulder
For gowns with V-necklines or shoulder straps but no sleeves, only the armhole measurement is required. This helps ensure the arm opening sits comfortably without gaping or feeling too tight.

We highly recommend visiting a professional seamstress to help you take your measurements.
Measuring yourself usually isn't accurate enough for bridal wear.

Our standard size chart is designed to suit a wide range of body shapes, however we understand that every bride is unique.
Our standard sizing currently ranges from:
-
Smallest Size: Bust 78cm | Waist 60cm | Hip 83.5cm
-
Largest Size: Bust 130cm | Waist 115cm | Hip 139cm
If your measurements fall below or above these measurements, don't worry—custom sizing is often still possible for almost all our designs
Because every gown is made individually, the maximum and minimum measurements can vary depending on the style, fabric, construction and level of customisation required. In some cases, an additional custom sizing fee may apply for measurements outside our standard sizing range.
If you find you are above or below our standard sizing then before placing your order, please send us your measurements
We'll happily confirm whether your chosen style can be made to your measurements and advise you of any additional costs or considerations before you order.
